BroadStreetHero Out of the four major sports franchises in Philadelphia the one I follow the least is the Sixers. I’m just not a huge basketball guy. I love the college game, and as a Penn Stater I am proud to say that my Nittany Lions won the NIT Championship, but basketball is not my favorite sport.
With that said, I don’t have much to say about the hiring of Eddie Jordan as head coach of the 76ers. In today’s NBA coaches have been getting hired and fired before fans know their names, but hopefully Jordan can help our young nucleus of players to grow. Even though I detest the NBA, I do love watching the Sixers play. They try hard every night and play tough defense which leads to their great transition scoring. You don’t see teams in the NBA try hard night in and night out, but the Sixers have been an exception.
My Thoughts on the Team
Andre Iguodala – Hopefully 2009/10 will be the year that Andre Iguodala takes command and becomes a star. I know we have hoped that it would come sooner (preferably this year), but he hasn’t shown the superstar ability that we know he has in each game.
Andre Miller – Andre has been great for us, and I am looking forward to another great year out of him. He controls the game and has been a huge help to our younger players.
Thaddeus Young – Thad has the potential for a breakout year in 2009/10. He showed his potential this year. The sky is the limit for this kid.
Elton Brand – I think I can speak for everyone in Philadelphia when I say he doesn’t fit our system. His injuries have held him back and he didn’t work well in the system when he was healthy. If Eddie Jordan can fit him in and he is healthy, Elton could be a gamechanger.
Lou Williams – I love this kid, that’s all I need to say.
Samuel Dalembert – He has his downsides but he has always played tough even though he still doesn’t have the basketball IQ that he should have.
