The Phillies won their third straight game to bring their record to 28-20 and are still a half game up in the NL East. Jamie Moyer pitched 6 strong innings, allowing only one run against a strong Nationals lineup, to earn his 250th win in his illustrious major league career. Brad Lidge got his 3rd save of the series and now has 12 saves on the season as the Phillies won 4-2. This game was all about great pitching, great fielding, and timely hitting for the Phillies, who continue to play excellent baseball in May.
Some Notes on Today’s Game:
- The Phillies had their 20th Sell Out of the season, surpassing 45,000 fans in attendance yet again.
- Chris Coste played his first game of the series, going 2 for 2 with a solo home run and two walks.
- Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez each had triples for the Phillies (this reminded me of Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell doing the same thing in a game last season).
- Josh Willingham continues to hit solo home runs for the Nationals with two solo shots today, the only runs scored by the Nationals.
